No previous racing experience, started in 944 Challenge series in 2005
(some would argue still no racing experience) and having a fantastic time.

Currently in garage is the restored Mini Cooper, a current model Cooper S,
1981 Honda CBX (6 Cylinders, if only the 944 could rev like it), 1942
Velocette 350, 76 Valiant Charger, 76 Mini and various farm bikes.
Took up Karting last year to accompany youngest son - and to improve my
driving skills. I thought that in my first year in 944's that I'd had a
lot of hits, multiply that by 10 for karting.
Look Dad.....I know we are family, but my driving tips don't come cheap ok !

D.O.B: 17.12.1990
Passions: Car racing and his dog – Lloyd (an English Staffie)
Elliot commenced his car racing passion as a Go Kart ‘P’ plate driver in the Junior National Heavy class and in the first twelve months progressed to taking out third outright overall in Junior National Heavy at the Oakleigh Go Kart club. Oakleigh is one of the oldest competition kart clubs in Australia and boasts some now famous names as drivers that have passed through the club, such as Steven Richards, John Faulkner and the Macrow brothers to name a few. Elliot also won the prestigious “Most Improved Driver’ for his class in 2005.
2007 - Elliot was offered a full season of supported racing in the Rob Southouse owned and operated Mercbits fully prepared and sponsored HQ race car. Elliot enjoyed an exciting year driving the incredibly demanding HQ in an equally competitive competition that often took sheer guts and determination to finish the race. Elliot considers the best thing about his first race in the HQ series to be the fact the he didn’t come last and his best race to be the Symmons Plains HQ Nationals in which Elliot started last, finished eighth against the best in the country achieving the 7th fastest time in the race and only 2/10ths slower than 2nd place.
2008 - Elliot is racing a 944 Porsche. The purpose built left-hand drive PORSCHE 944, has been built and is maintained by Rod Smith Racing. Rod has taken Elliot under his wing and is maintaining the car for the team. Rod has 30 years experience in Motorsport as a mechanic, team manager, team owner and race driver, and has worked with the best including the Holden Racing Team, Perkins Motorsport, and many other leading private and factory teams. Rod has been an integral component of successful entrants in the Porsche 944 series for the past 5 years and Elliot is looking forward to learning and developing under Rod’s guidance.

Just love to race and race fair. Racing with the right guys in 944 is great fun – guys who leave room,
Guys who don’t block, guys who don’t drill you in the door.
Now running consistently top 6 and looking to go faster. If I can maintain a reputation of being
Fast and safe and good to race with . . . . . I am happy. Oh . . . . . and also known to have the odd

Growing up on
2007 saw Steve step up to Leopard Light which is one of the most prestigious classes in Australian karting. After quickly coming to grips with the extremely fast speed and grip of this category Steve went on to win the Club Championship for the second time and also the Australasian Kart Titles, earning him the right to use the famous ‘red number plate’ for one year. This was a huge victory for Steve in his first season of Leopard, racing against much older and more experienced drivers.
The first half of this year has seen Steve concentrate on his year 12 studies, although now having purchased a 944; the second part of this year will see Steve combine his studies with racing. Steve is looking forward to learning and developing his skills in a completely new category as well as meeting new people along the way. Making the move to circuit racing is a huge step forward in Steve’s quest of becoming a full time racing driver in
